Today I’m proud to announce our collaboration with Fatburger (Crenshaw/Slauson). New uniforms feature the classic Fatburger logo alongside our Crenshaw script logo. New uniforms designed by me. MTV stopped by for the grand opening to cover the event. Check it video out!
After a 40 day tour across the country there’s no better homecoming for a photographer than a billboard in their hometown. Actually there is, try three billboards for size and more coming! The first billboard I shot was with DJ Quik in 2010 on Sunset, the second one was with Nas in Atlanta, and now the tradition carries forward with my brother Nipsey Hussle to announce our brand’s collaboration with Young & Reckless. I’m really excited for people to check out the capsule collection we put together for this project. The Letterman jacket is definitely my favorite!
If you’re in LA you can check out the billboards at the following locations:
Slauson and La Brea
Crenshaw and Vernon
Crenshaw and 43rd
Check out this behind-the-scenes video to get see how the campaign was made.
It’s been two years since my last conversation with Frank 151. I recently chatted with Dwayne Lindsey to get up to speed on the latest and greatest. Read the full story to find out why they call me “The Hustler”. Click here to read.
Over the last couple of years I’ve become an avid reader and documentary buff to keep myself sharp and learn new things about the things that interest me. I periodically tweet about these books and documentaries that move me. Along my travels I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a lot of people who follow my work and I’ve found a good amount of them have read the books I’ve posted and watched the documentaries I’ve shared. With that said, I figured I’d start a section on my blog called “Peniche’s Picks” where I’ll share the things that I like and that inspire me. Hopefully you find the answers or inspiration for your journey through these books and documentaries.
It’s an exciting time for the West Coast rap world right now. The left coast is steadily taking the main stage as the spotlight shifts to the Pacific. An emergence of talented emcees have come forth in this new hip-hop renaissance. One of the most promising and often underrated talents is Skeme from Inglewood. Skeme and I met in 2010 to shoot some publicity photos for “Alive and Living”. We remained in close contact ever since then. At the top of this year he reached out to me to start working on his new project entitled “Ingleworld”. We’ve been working on the artwork and photography for “Ingleworld” all year long to get it exactly where we both envisioned it to be. Without further adieu, I’m proud to present “Ingleworld”cover shot and designed by me.
You can pre-order “Ingelworld” on iTunes by clicking here. Definitely don’t want to miss this one!
One last thing, check out the exclusive Diamond Supply x Jorge Peniche t-shirt available in very limited quantities to commemorate the release of Ingleworld. Looks good doesn’t it? Good luck getting your hands on it!
Earlier this week Nipsey and I spoke with Billboard.com about the success of our “Proud2Pay” campaign. Find out why we priced “Crenshaw” at $100 a piece, and managed to garner Jay Z’s attention. Click here to read to story.
AllHipHop.com calls me the “Leader of the New School” in my recent interview with Bradley Scott. Read the story here to find out why. Shout out to DJ VIP!
